For some reason, my mornings always go better when there are eggs involved. When I only have minutes to spare, I break out the air fryer to make hard boiled eggs.
Why I love this recipe
- Hands-off. Set the eggs in the basket, air fry them, and peel them after the ice bath.
- Quick. The eggs need about 13 minutes in the air fryer and 5 minutes in the ice bath. It’s (almost) as quick as my microwave hard boiled eggs!
- You can walk away! Since you don’t have to keep your eyes on the stove top, you can set them and forget them while they cook.
- Cook them to your desired doneness. This recipe is specifically for hard-boiled eggs, but if you prefer the texture of a runny yolk, try my air fryer soft boiled eggs!
Key ingredients
- Large eggs. I suggest using slightly older eggs over fresh eggs. In my experience, older eggs tend to peel more easily, and the flavor is just as good. Let them sit at room temperature for 10 minutes so they can cook more quickly.
How to air fry hard boiled eggs
I’ve included step-by-step photos below to make this recipe easy to follow at home. For the full printable recipe instructions and ingredient quantities, scroll to the recipe card at the bottom of this post.

Step 1- Air fry. Preheat the air fryer, place eggs in the basket, and air fry for about 13 minutes.
Step 2- Ice water bath. Carefully place the eggs in a bowl of cold water to rest for 5 minutes. Then, peel or store in the refrigerator.
Arman’s recipe tips
- Don’t have room temperature eggs? Gently place them in a bowl of lukewarm water for 5 minutes before cooking.
- Adjust the cooking time. Everyone’s air fryer is a bit different, so your eggs may need more or less time to cook. For reference, the air fryer I used is 1800 watts.
- If your air fryer doesn’t have an egg holder, use the grill basket instead so they’re elevated.
- Use tongs. The eggs will be quite hot when you pull them from the air fryer basket, so use a set of tongs.
Frequently asked questions
Can you air fry eggs at 300 degrees?
Yes, if you set the air fryer to 300F/149C, your eggs should need about 10-12 minutes to hard boil. I found 275F/135C to be hot enough.
Why are my air fryer eggs hard to peel?
Peeling eggs is somewhat of an art form. To get the perfect peel, gently crack the egg at the base, then look for the membrane as you peel. Go slowly and run the egg underwater to remove the tiny bits of shell.
Can I use aluminum foil in an air fryer for eggs?
Yes, if you don’t have an egg holder or grill basket for the air fryer, line it with aluminum foil. Just be careful, as it will be fairly hot when you remove the eggs.
